Oil see you later: UPDATE

A point highlighted by an opinion piece in today's New York Times is just one of the many reasons why domestic and offshore drilling is not as great as proponents claim.
"a nation holding less than 3 percent of the world’s oil reserves while guzzling
20 percent of the world’s production will never be able to drill its way out of
its dependency on foreign oil."

The opinion by the way is from non other than T. Boone Pickens. Maybe you've read about his Picken's Plan lately.

Why do we so desperately cling to a limited supply of fossil fuels that are only going to get more expensive rather than supporting industries that utilizes energy supplies that are unlimited, thereby ensuring an energy price that won't fluctuate because of speculators? Wouldn't that help working families? Did I mention it is good for the environment too?

UPDATE:

Maybe he hasn't changed. This kind of negates this entire post.
