Real Stories of the Highway Patrol
Now many of you know all about Mrs. Beebe’s Flat Stanley Project in which Clinton School students take pictures of our cartoon cutout in various places throughout the world. (I gotta say that when you are by yourelf going around and taking picture of a cartoon, people look at you wierd.) We’ll I decided to start my own little picture project. While I worked for Governor Beebe in a position that is known as the “body guy” (Laugh it up), I traveled extensively throughout the state and had the fortune –depends on how you look at it -- of forming a special bond with the Arkansas State Troopers that make up the Executive Protection Detail.
I stole one of their patches from them at some point and decided to take it with me on the trip and take pictures with it to show a little pride in what they do. I thought today would be a good time to start as we pay our respects to those who defended us from our enemies abroad in the past in hopes that it will help us remembers those who protect us daily in the now. Many of those guys are military and I thought they might be interested too.
Plus, I had to get a picture for them in Hawaii as I have it on good authority that a good portion of them used to dress up and “make believe” they were Magnum P.I.
P.S. They love it when you call them Highway Police.
