The cutting edge

I have to take a moment to brag on my parents. They bought a Neuton cordless electric lawn mower. Like most everyone, a combination of high energy prices and general concern for the environment have prompted them to adopt more sustainable practices in their daily life such as this. Plus their gas powered one recently broke down.

It's lighter, quieter and cheaper to run than traditional lawn mowers. Also, when priced against gas mowers at Sears and Wal-Mart, it is fairly comparable.

I know it may not seem like much, but every little bit counts. The EPA says that forty million lawnmowers cause five percent of the nation's air pollution. Plus it costs about 10 cents to charge a Newton battery. Compare that to gas prices.

Perhaps my favorite feature is the no crank start. No need to do that frantic dance every week to get the old mower going.
