My Flat Stanley

Meet my version of Flat Stanley. A true Arkansan, this little guy will accompany me on my journey to Melbourne this summer and decided he would bring his trusty companion Beauregard the Flathound. Not only will Flat bring back stories from the Outback to share with the children of Arkansas, but he hopes to share some aspects of the culture from his home state with all he meets.

The adventure has already begun. Yesterday, I and two other students, traveled to Fayetteville with Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe to attend a production of “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” with 1,000 area elementary students at the Walton Arts Center.

We had the opportunity to greet the crowd and share our handmade Flat Stanley and a brief description of our upcoming travels around the world.

It was a great experience traveling with Mrs. Beebe and allowed us to witness the enthusiasm of the children for this particular project. This is just one of the many great events that the Walton Arts Center presents. Their shows range from children’s musicals, concerts and Broadway shows. It is a great way to pass the time if you are ever in Northwest Arkansas. Visit http://www.waltonartscenter.org/ for more information.
